Âé¶čUS Michigan Collegeâs administration has responded to an amended unfair labor practice charge filed March 24 by members of its support staff union, NCMC Educational Support Professionals â Custodial/Maintenance/Office.
âThe college disputes the assertions in the amended unfair labor practice charge and looks forward to the merits of these charges coming out in the Michigan Employment Relations Commission hearing,â said David Roland Finley, president of Âé¶čUS. âIn the meantime, we will continue the important work of negotiating in good faith toward our common goal: a mutually agreed upon contract that is equitable for both the college and our support staff union.â
The college and members of its support staff have been negotiating a contract â the support staffâs first collective bargaining agreement â since 2019, after a vote to unionize was certified in 2018. Negotiations have been ongoing, occurring either via Zoom or in person with proper safety measures in place, including mask-wearing and social distancing.
